I had no idea what to expect for this show, but needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Drama‘s “thing” is they naturally build tension to the point where they physically hit each other. An improv slap, not a real slap – don’t worry, we’re not promoting abuse here folks. But it’s interesting, because it’s intentional and… it’s new.

I loved Snooty Pageant. This was the best show I saw during Chicago SketchFest this year. After deciding what characters they want to play, how to play to their strengths and what common thread they could use to weave together their story, these two powerhouses pulled together a dynamite performance.
I’m a firm believer in the saying “everything happens for a reason” and I have more or less adopted this as a pseudo life motto. Obviously, it’s easy to make a case for all the good things that happen, but when the bad things pop up, it’s a bit more difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Cook County is one of my favorite teams to watch. So often you hear teachers remind you that if you’re not having fun, you shouldn’t be improvising. If you don’t get that, watch these guys and you’ll see exactly why. They have the best time on stage and, as an audience member, it’s contagious. They’re hilarious. Their suggestion was “pickup” and the show opened with a lot of whispering, indigestion from curry and then we realized that there was a baby missing. Each scene in this show directly rolls off of something mentioned in the previous scene, so when the line “you’re sucking down cupcakes like heroin” was said, rest assured, it was followed by a number of cupcake consuming and heroin suckling scenes.
