Jet Eveleth and Paul Brittain are no strangers to Chicago’s comedy scene. Eveleth spent 12 years in Chicago before moving to LA at the end of 2012. Brittain trained at iO, alongside SNL cast member, Vanessa Bayer and joined SNL himself for about a year and a half, beginning in 2010. These two were right at home, back in their old stomping grounds and it’s always nice to see familiar faces back in town.
Chicago comedy legends, Dan Bakkedahl and Ed Furman are Trainwreck. They perform a two-man improvised single scene show based off an audience suggestion. There are a number of things one recognizes when watching seasoned improvisers and patience and attention to detail are two of them.
Beginning this Sunday, April 6th, ComedySportz is kicking off Improvised Double Dare, a month of shows inspired by the 1980’s Nickelodeon television show. However, to amp up the excitement, they will have the original host of Double Dare, Marc Summers, hosting the show this Sunday. San Francisco photographer and improviser, Sam Willard, has found himself a niche – photographing improvisers. He is traveling around the country in pursuit of capturing hundreds of photos to be stylized and added to his collection. Sam reached out to LAFS in an effort to try to connect with the Chicago comedy community during The Chicago Improv Festival. Matt Besser is one of the founding members of Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB). UCB started as a Chicago-based improv team composed of Besser, Ian Roberts, Matt Walsh and Amy Poehler and has transformed into a well-known comedy establishment in New York City and Los Angeles. These folks not only formed UCB but Besser, Roberts, Walsh and friends regularly perform together as ASSSSCAT. ASSSSCAT will be performing, with a few alterations to the lineup, at UP Comedy Club on Sunday April 6th as part of the Chicago Improv Festival. Besser shared a few words with me about how he got started and some of his favorite moments.
