A Musical Comedy Fusion
Amber Linde didn’t let other people’s doubt distract her from making it as musical improviser. When Linde discovered her preferred style of performing was embraced in the Chicago comedy scene, she took it upon herself to create her own opportunities. Thus, Jams with Ambs was born.
Her belief that ” music and comedy were meant to be” gave Linde the structure for her new web series. Jams with Ambs is an interview-style web series where she hosts musical improvisers as her guests. Linde and her guests talk musical improv for a while and then end their time with a musical improv jam session, taking suggestions from social media. Linde encourages her guests to tell their story and promote their recent work, in order to encourage buzz about the growing music improv scene.
The first episode of the show includes an interview with Steph McCullough and Alex Garday about the new MCL Chicago. Upcoming episodes will include interviews and jam sessions with Aaron Graham, Ashley England and Andi Sharavsky with music director John Sturk. Episodes will be released every few weeks, with performers from local theaters and festivals. Linde plans on starting a YouTube channel once a few episodes have been released. But while you’re waiting for these new episodes, check out the first one below.
