Meet The Voices of LAFS
Aside from the core operations/content team, here are the contributing writers of LAFS.
Fran Hoepfner
CONTRIBUTING WRITER/REVIEWER
Fran Hoepfner is a writer and comedian from the Chicagoland area. She is a recent graduate from Kalamazoo College, where she majored in English with an Emphasis in Writing. Since graduating, she has worked with The Annoyance, The Second City and The Onion in marketing and editorial positions. She’s a graduate of The Second City Writing Program and she has been actively pursuing stand-up in Chicago for the past year, appearing at both the Chicago Nerd Comedy Festival and the Chicago Women’s Funny Festival.
When not surrounded by comedians, Fran is usually surrounded by desserts. Follow Fran on Twitter at @toofrantastic.
Kana Felix
CONTRIBUTING WRITER
Kana Felix is one of the nerdiest of comedy nerds having created her own major in “Theorizing Comedy” at NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. She moved to Chicago last Fall after completing iO’s Summer Intensive and falling in love with the Chicago comedy scene. Currently, Kana is a performer on Tilde Tilda at One Group Mind Theater and a student at iO and the Chicago Improv Den.
In New York, Kana was a member of the Magnet and UCB Theatre communities, an editorial intern for the long-form storytelling platform Narratively and co-founded the college sketch comedy group Antonio’s Army (now called Free Beer). One day she aspires to be a television writer and a proud owner of a Greyhound (the dog, not the bus). Follow Kana on Twitter at @kanoodle7.
Dan DeSalva
CONTRIBUTING WRITER
Dan DeSalva grew up in Connecticut and was enthralled by comedy from an early age. By fourteen, he was performing stand-up comedy regularly through the Kids ’N Comedy program at The Gotham Comedy Club in NYC. Despite his mild success in the Tri-State area’s amateur-teenage-stand-up scene, Dan decided to leave his lucrative lifestyle and attend college.
At Northwestern University, Dan majored in Radio/Television/Film as well as Creative Writing. Dan start taking classes at the iO Theater in 2012. Currently, Dan is a featured writer for The Second City Network and also assists The Second City with video production. You can see him perform with his One Group Mind team, Partial Marshall, as well as his independent team, Rainstick. Follow Dan on Twitter at @DanDeSalva.
Hannah Levy
CONTRIBUTING WRITER/VIDEO PRODUCER

After that semester, she was sold, and this February, she moved back to Chicago from her native Philadelphia. Currently, she works as a Video Fellow at The Onion and is a student in The Second City’s Writing Program. Before her time in Chicago, Hannah studied media production at Brown University and worked for the video team at The Huffington Post. Follow Hannah on Twitter at @hanlevy.
Dan Schiffmacher
VIDEO PRODUCER/PHOTOGRAPHER
Dan Schiffmacher originates from Buffalo, New York where he began his life in both video production and comedy. While in Western New York, he began studying improv under the direction of iO alum, John Thompson, which was the true selling point of making the move to The Windy City. He is currently in a three person troupe, 3D and is also taking classes at iO.
Dan has a bachelors degree from University of Buffalo in Video Production. He currently edits and produces the videos and podcasts for Improv Nerd, is a video intern for iO as well as a freelance photographer. Follow Dan on Twitter at @aintgotnotweets or Instagram at @schiftyd.
